Our Legacy and Elations
Mr. M. Noorul Quader is considered by many to be the pioneer of Bangladesh’s 100% export-oriented ready-made garments (RMG) industry. Owing to his innovation, Desh Garments Ltd. has contributed significantly to both the social and economic development of Bangladesh.

The Start of Desh Group
Noorul Quader Khan was born at Tongibari, Bikrampur (now under the district of Munshiganj). His father was Abdul Latif Khan and his mother was Kulsum Begum.
1974
Expansion into the Oil Services Sector
Incorporated on the 27th of September, Tutelar Oil Services Co. (Pvt) Ltd. marked a significant venture, serving as a consultant and local agent for Union Oil Company (USA) in offshore oil exploration, under a production-sharing contract with Bangladesh.

1975
Incorporation of Desh International Ltd.
On the 28th of October, Desh International Ltd. was established, diversifying its corporate portfolio and enhancing its presence across multifaceted sectors.

1976
Diversification with Desh International Ltd.
Desh International, the exclusive agent of Canpotex Ltd. (Canada), embarked on the strategic supply of muriate of potash (Potassium Chloride) to Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) from 1976 to 1990, with an impressive one million metric tons supplied.

Pioneering the 100% Export Oriented RMG Industry
The inception of Desh Garments Ltd. on the 27th of December marked a historic milestone. Leveraging technical expertise from Daewoo in South Korea, Desh positioned itself as a 100% export-oriented garment producer in Bangladesh.

Strengthening Ties with Daewoo
Solidifying international collaboration, a joint venture agreement was formed between Desh and Daewoo on the 4th of July. This partnership led to technical and marketing training for Desh staff in Korea, showcasing a progressive approach to growth.

Broadening Horizons with Desh Agencies Ltd.
On the 28th of November, Desh Agencies Ltd. was established, extending its corporate footprint and diversifying its business pursuits.

Venturing into the Locomotive Market
Desh International formed an alliance with General Motors (USA) to supply locomotives to the Bangladesh Railway. From 1978 to 2015, more than 150 locomotives were successfully delivered.

Tutelar Oil Services represented Bühler, a Swiss machinery manufacturer specializing in rice and crop processing equipment.

Innovating Financing in Garments
Founder M. Noorul Quader devised the back-to-back letter of credit system, revolutionizing financing in the RMG industry. This deferred payment plan created a harmonious triangle of trust between factories, suppliers, and banks, ultimately underpinning the industry's financial structure.

Introducing Duty-Free Warehousing
M. Noorul Quader's efforts in persuading the government led to the creation of a special duty-free bonded warehouse system. This innovation granted duty-free imports to export-oriented industries while providing factory owners 100% custody of the warehouse.

Air Conditioning System for Zia International Airport
Desh Group collaborated with SEEE and CSEE (France) to design and establish the central air conditioning system at Zia International Airport (now Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport) in Dhaka, showcasing the Group's expertise in infrastructure development.

Expanding Petroleum Exports
Desh Group, partnered with Transworld Oil Company of Bermuda, to export petroleum distillates to the territory, expanding the Group's international trade endeavors.

The sale of 135 railway wagons to Bangladesh Railway highlighted Desh Group's commitment to enhancing the country's railway infrastructure.

Jenk Industries Ltd. was established on the 16th of February, marking the Group's entry into corrugated packaging production, catering to the burgeoning 100% export-oriented garment industry.

Sustained Maritime Ventures
Desh Group furthered its maritime achievements, successfully selling two 13,000 DWT multipurpose dry cargo vessels from Hong Kong.

Venturing into IT Education
Desh Info Tech, established on the 15th of November, initiated a strategic partnership with Aptech Ltd. (India) to offer ISO 9001-compliant computer education and corporate training, marking the Group's foray into the dynamic IT sector.

Diversifying into Rice Milling
The commencement of Bühler rice miller and optical sorter sales in 2008 introduced Desh Group into the rice milling industry, a venture that saw the sale of 39 rice mills and 60 sorters in Bangladesh between 2008 and 2015.

Elevating Milling Capabilities
Desh Group facilitated the sale of a Bühler 72 TPH rice mill of European origin to City Group, contributing to the enhancement of milling capacities.

The sale of a 300 TPD whole wheat flour mill to City Group, Akij Group, and Meghna Group underscores Desh Group's role in advancing the nation's flour milling industry.

Tutelar Oil Services, entrusted as the sales agent for IBL Group of Companies (India) and Jufeng Compressor Group Co., Ltd. (China), exhibited Desh Group's commitment to forging robust international partnerships.

The birth of Desh Ventures Limited marked a pivotal expansion, as the Group ventured into contract manufacturing in collaboration with Berger Paints Bangladesh, diversifying its portfolio and embracing new dimensions of business.
