The Pioneer of Garments
In 1974, Mr M. Noorul Quader founded Desh Group of Companies and played an active role in trading and indenting for organisations like the Union Oil Company of USA, Buhler, A.G of Switzerland, Campotex (Canada), and many more. Over the years, Desh Group diversified into various industries in Bangladesh, showcasing its commitment to a multifaceted corporate presence like garments, logistics, real estate, locomotives, and packaging, along with a manufacturing collaboration with Berger.
A pivotal transformation occurred when Desh Garments Ltd. was formed on 27 December 1977. Leveraging technical expertise from Daewoo of South Korea, Desh Garments Ltd. emerged as a pioneer in 100% export-oriented ready-made garments production in Bangladesh.
In 1978, a joint venture agreement was signed between Desh Group of Companies and Daewoo of South Korea. 130 trainees, including 18 women, were sent to South Korea for technical and marketing training, where they learned about the technical aspects of the garments manufacturing and commercial/marketing aspects of the trade.
